Spanish top flight team Villarreal FC crashed out 3-5 on aggregate having drawn 2-2 in the first leg.
Samuel Chukwueze who scored his fifth goal of the season in 17 appearances couldn’t stop his club, Villarreal from losing 1-3 to Espanyol in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey.
Two penalties converted by Pablo Piatti and Borja Iglesias in the 34th and 37th minutes gave Espanyol a two-goal cushion before Chukwueze cut in from the right and curled in in trademark fashion in the 42nd minute.
Chukwueze’s goal threatened a Villarreal fight back but Iglesias’ 72nd minute strike sealed it for Espanyol.
The Nigerian wonder kid has been in scintillating form in his debut season on the topflight and has attracted attention from top European sides.
Villarreal are desperate to keep him beyond this window as they battle for LaLiga survival but it is still left to be known how much longer they will have him.
