Napoli striker and Super Eagles sensation, Victor Osimhen, faces uncertainty in his participation in Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe scheduled for November.
This doubt arose after Osimhen sustained an injury during Nigeria’s recent friendly match against Saudi Arabia, in which he was forced to leave the field in the 56th minute.
Following his return to Naples, further medical assessments revealed a medium-grade lesion of the biceps femoris in his right thigh. Napoli has already initiated treatment for the 24-year-old at the SSCN Konami Training Centre.
Typically, the recovery time for this type of injury ranges from four to six weeks.
Osimhen is expected to miss several crucial matches during his recovery period, including Napoli’s upcoming encounters with Hellas Verona in Serie A, a Champions League trip to Union Berlin, and a domestic showdown against Milan.
For Super Eagles fans and Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying campaign, Osimhen’s injury presents a significant concern.
The three-time African champions are set to host Lesotho’s national team, the Crocodiles, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on November 17th.

Four days later, they will be on the road to face Zimbabwe. Osimhen’s availability for these crucial fixtures remains uncertain, and his presence on the field is highly anticipated.
Nigeria’s hopes for a successful World Cup qualifying campaign could be impacted by the absence of their star striker, and fans, as well as Napoli, will closely monitor his recovery progress in the coming weeks.
The Super Eagles will be eager to see Osimhen return to full fitness and continue his impressive form in both domestic and international competitions.
