The Nigerian striker, who had gone two matches without finding the net, returned to form with a decisive penalty late in the first half. Osimhen, paired with Dries Mertens in attack, played a pivotal role in reversing Galatasaray’s early struggles.
The reigning champions faced adversity when Metehan Baltacı was shown a red card in the 15th minute. Sivasspor capitalized on the numerical advantage, taking the lead through Garry Rodrigues in the 25th minute.
However, Yunus Akgün equalized in the 35th minute after exploiting a defensive error by Rodrigues. Osimhen put Galatasaray ahead in the ninth minute of first-half stoppage time, confidently converting a penalty after a handball incident in the box.
Despite being down to 10 players, Galatasaray continued to press in the second half. Barış Yılmaz extended the lead with a well-placed strike, assisted by Akgün’s through ball.
Sivasspor pushed for a response, scoring late in the game, but Galatasaray’s defense held firm to maintain their unbeaten league run.
Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk praised the team’s resilience, saying, “This victory showcases our character and determination. Even with a man down, we controlled the game and made the necessary adjustments.”
With this win, Galatasaray remains atop the Super Lig standings, bolstered by Osimhen’s consistent scoring and leadership on the field. The Nigerian’s goal tally further cements his reputation as one of Europe’s most potent forwards this season.
