Victor Boniface kicked off Bayer Leverkusen’s season in style, scoring the first goal of the 2024-25 campaign during the German Super Cup final against VfB Stuttgart.
Boniface found the back of the net in the 11th minute, tapping in a header from Edmond Tapsoba, giving Leverkusen an early lead. However, Stuttgart equalized just four minutes later, setting the stage for a tense and dramatic match.
Leverkusen faced additional challenges when Martin Terrier was sent off in the 37th minute, forcing the team to play with ten men.
Despite this setback, Leverkusen battled on, and after Stuttgart took the lead in the second half, Patrik Schick scored a crucial equalizer in the 88th minute, pushing the game into a penalty shootout.
Leverkusen ultimately triumphed 4-3 in the shootout, claiming their first-ever German Super Cup title. Reflecting on the intense match, Boniface’s early goal set the tone for what promises to be an exciting season for the reigning Bundesliga champions.
