Victor Boniface Returns to Bayer Leverkusen Squad for Crucial UEFA Champions League Clash Against Atletico Madrid

Nigerian international Victor Boniface has been included in Bayer Leverkusen’s traveling squad for their UEFA Champions League group-stage showdown against Atletico Madrid at 9 PM on January 21, 2025.

The striker, who last featured on November 21, 2024, has been sidelined for the past three games due to a hamstring injury but has now been cleared to return. His availability provides a significant boost for the Bundesliga leaders ahead of their vital encounter in Spain.

Before their departure, the team trained in sub-zero temperatures at the Ulrich Haberland Stadium in an open session, where Boniface participated fully, showcasing his fitness during warm-up and passing drills. The squad appeared in high spirits as they finalized preparations.

Boniface, a key player in Leverkusen’s domestic and European campaigns, is now competing for a spot in Xabi Alonso’s starting lineup or as an impact substitute.

Leverkusen face a tough challenge against Atletico Madrid, who are also vying for group-stage qualification.

Their previous meeting ended in a 2-2 draw in Germany, and Boniface’s return could prove crucial as Leverkusen seek a positive result at the Wanda Metropolitano
