Valencia CF Target Brentford’s Frank Onyeka in Late Transfer Move

Valencia CF is making a determined push to sign Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka from Brentford FC as the summer transfer window nears its end.

The Spanish club is eager to bring the Nigerian international to the Mestalla Stadium after his impressive performances under Jose Peseiro during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations caught the eye of several European clubs.

Initially, Girona expressed interest in Onyeka, but Valencia has now emerged as a strong contender for his signature. According to BBC reports, the 26-year-old midfielder is keen on a move to La Liga, but the negotiations between Brentford and Valencia have hit a snag. The Premier League side prefers a permanent transfer, while Valencia is pushing for an initial loan deal.

With Onyeka’s desire to play in Spain this season, both clubs are under pressure to reach an agreement before the transfer window closes.

If the move materializes, Frank Onyeka will join fellow Super Eagles stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke, who are currently plying their trade in La Liga with Sevilla FC.

Onyeka has also been named in Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

The midfielder will be looking to continue his strong form with the national team in the crucial September fixtures.
