Nigeria International goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho made an impressive debut for Elche in the Spanish Segunda Division on Friday night, reports Sports247.ng.
Francis Uzoho who is now 19 years of age gave a good account of himself as Elche defeated Malaga 2-0 at the Estadio Martinez Valero. Goals from Neider Lozano and Borja Martinez helped the hosts pick maximum points.
The goalkeeper refused to stay at his parent club Deportivo La Coruna over the lack of assurances he may be guaranteed regular playing opportunities.
He joined Elche on a season long loan in the Summer Transfer window.
Uzoho struggled for game time last season for Deportivo La Coruna who were eventually relegated to the Segunda Division.
His decision to leave Deportivo La Coruna was down to lack of playing time and he had to look for another club to achieve that aim.
The Nigeria international wasn’t short of suitors as he was part of the Super Eagles team that featured at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The shot-stopper was recently part of the Nigeria’s squad that defeated Libya 3-2 in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday in Sfax.
