Uyo Agog As Three Days Football Coaches Clinic Kicks Off November 25 2020

By Theophilus Udo

Ahead of the 2020/2021 football league season in Nigeria, the football Association in Akwa Ibom State under the leadership of Hon. Emmanuel Iba is set for a three days football coaching clinic in Akwa Ibom State.

According to Hon. Iba, who is the South-South board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, the football coaches clinic is organized by the state Football Association in conjunction with Flying Sports Academy with the aim of retraining especially the grassroots coaches in Akwa Ibom State.

Addressing sports journalists in Uyo, Iba, hinted that the three days clinic is slated to kick start tomorrow, Wednesday 25 to Friday 28 November 2020 at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium with instructors from within and outside the country.

According to the South-South NFF board member, his administration is bringing back football to the grassroots, and the three days clinic for selected 45 grassroots coaches is one of the strategies after ensuring that FA has functional leadership in all the 31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom state.

“We chose the grassroots coaches because we want to get the talented footballers at the early stage. We limited the number of participants to 45 because of the pandemic and to ensure that those benefiting from the clinic are those who already have basic certification in football coaching.

“We are grateful to one of our sons, an ex-international and the chief Executive Officer of Flying Sports Academy, Mr. Marshall Mbre, for partnering with the FA to make the clinic a reality for the first time in Akwa Ibom”.

The coaching clinic will precede the Akwa Ibom league and Akwa Ibom cup which is slated to kick off soon in the state.
