Following an impressive loan spell at Hajduk Split in Croatia, Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has returned to his parent club Boavista to commence preparations for the upcoming season.
Awaziem’s time at Hajduk Split was marked by remarkable performances and notable achievements.
During his loan spell, the 26-year-old showcased his defensive prowess and made significant offensive contributions.
In 28 league matches, Awaziem scored an impressive tally of five goals and even provided an assist. Notably, his goal-scoring feat set a new record for the highest-scoring defender in Hajduk Split’s history within the Croatian top flight.
Furthermore, Awaziem played a vital role in Hajduk Split’s successful campaign, which culminated in them clinching the Croatian Cup and securing their eighth title in the competition’s history. His consistent performances undoubtedly played a crucial role in the team’s triumph.
Despite his commendable efforts, Hajduk Split has decided against offering Awaziem a permanent deal, leading to his return to Boavista.
The Nigerian defender is now set to participate in Boavista’s preseason program as they gear up for the upcoming season.
In addition to Awaziem, Boavista eagerly anticipates the arrival of another new addition to the Eagles, Bruno Onyemaechi, as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
Awaziem initially joined Boavista on loan from Porto in 2020 and subsequently made his move permanent in 2021 for a fee of €5 million.
As Awaziem embarks on his preseason preparations with Boavista, he aims to continue delivering impressive performances and contribute to his club’s success in the upcoming campaign.
