Super Eagles star Umar Sadiq scored his first La Liga goal on Monday night in Almeria’s 1-1 draw against Elche.
Sadiq scored with a thumping header from a corner kick in the 23rd minute to put Almeria ahead. The lead did not last long as Barcelona loanee Alex Collado scored seven minutes later to equal the score for Elche.
Almeria was reduced to 10 men soon after when left-back Alex Centelles was shown a straight red card. The visitors held on to earn a point.
Sadiq was substituted late in the game. The goal is his first in the Spanish top flight. He fired blank in Almeria’s first game against Real Madrid which ended in a 2-1 loss.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Almeria, with Villarreal touted as his next possible destination.
Almeria sit in 12th place in the league table with one point from two matches. Rojiblancos will welcome Sevilla to the Power Horse Stadium for their next league game on Saturday, August 27.
