Nigerian prodigy Umar Abubakar has continued his rise in European football with a stellar start at Jong KAA Gent, the reserve team of Belgian side KAA Gent.

The 18-year-old forward, who joined from Footwork FC Abuja earlier this year, has scored an impressive seven goals in 14 matches in the Belgian First Amateur Division, cementing his status as one of Africa’s brightest young talents in Europe.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports247, Abubakar expressed his delight with his current form:

“It feels great to score consistently and help my team. Coming from Footwork FC Abuja, I always dreamt of moments like this, and I’m thankful for the opportunity,” he said.

“I’m focused on improving every day, and the support I’ve received from my coaches and teammates has been incredible.”
