UK football agent and legal director Marco Floreale is backing an African nation to reach the semi-finals stage of the FIFA World Cup in the next ten years span.
‘The Game of Two Halves’, Sports Management CEO also believes that African football is on the verge of greatness.
Floreale was present at the Emmydinho Football Club 3 Days Scouting Program held at the Agege Stadium in Lagos.
In an exclusive chat with Sports247, he said: “What I have seen the last couple of days has been impressive. These boys are having opportunities that they need to maximize.
“African football for me is on the cusp of greatness. We’ve had it before going back to the 1990s with Roger Milla and then George Weah. But at the same time, in the last five, six years it hasn’t got to where it should.
“But seeing what I’ve seen and the talents you have available, the work ethic, the speed, and the hunger, I think the future is bright. I’ve said it before – in the next ten years I’ll be very surprised if an African country doesn’t get to the semi-finals of the World Cup.”
However, Floreale suggests that African players should target mainland Europe to enhance their developments.
“For me, I think the leap that the African players need to have is getting to mainland Europe. Sow some good ties with Belgian, Germany, let the players go to a more professional academic environment and then I think in the next five years more Nigerians will come through back to England.” had said.
