Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets’ assistant coach, Nduka Ugbade has declared that another round of open screening will be staged for the squad, because the technical crew believe they still need some new talents for next year’s Africa U-17 Cup of Nations.
Although the Eaglets qualified in style for Tanzania 2019, Ugbade says the coaches still want to try out other talented kids that might be able to fit into the squad.
With that in mind, Ugbade stated that more players will be scouted to try out with the team when their next phase of camping commences.
Ugbade, who captained the pioneer Eaglets’ squad to win the maiden FIFA U-17 World Cup in 1984 in China, said the approach would enable the coaching crew select the best legs that will represent the country.
Ugbade added in a chat with sports247.ng: “We still want to try out as many young players as possible, in order to have a wide range of choices for the championship next year.
“We need a wide range of players, but specific positions will be carrying more numbers, with the aim of picking only the best.”
