Nigeria’s minister for youth and Sport, Mr Sunday Dare, has showered praises on UFC athletes Israel Adesanya and Usman Kamoru.
Israel Adesanya defeated American Jared Cannonier on Sunday morning to retain his UFC Middleweight title via a unanimous decision and this led to appreciation from the minister who referred to him as a worthy youth ambassador of Nigeria as he congratulated him.
The Nigerian Minister said the country is proud of the achievements of Israel Adesanya and UFC champion Kamaru Usman who have continued to identify with the country when they compete by showing off the flag.
“We are proud of Adesanya and Usman and we will continue to celebrate them because they always identify with Nigeria, they always proudly carry our flag everywhere they go. They are our global icons. We believe they have many more successes ahead of them,” Dare concluded.
