Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman had to be kept apart during a heated confrontation as the UFC welterweight rivals crossed paths at Super Bowl media day in Miami.
Usman, the 170-pound champion, could face Masvidal in his next title defence and a war of words has been building between the pair in recent weeks.
The rivals began yelling at each other in the Miami Convention Centre where they were speaking to press ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl.
‘Do something, do something, I’m standing right here, do something,’ taunted Usman.
Masvidal replied: B**** I’m going to kill you, that’s exactly what I’m going to do mother f*****, I’m going to f*** your a** up talking all that s***.
‘You got a cast on b**** I’m not going to take advantage of you like that. You got a cast on b****, that’s the only reason nothing has happened to you.’
Both men were speaking with different stations on radio row for the media day promoting the showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.
Security managed to separate the pair and kept a safe distance between both men.
Kamaru Usman is a Nigerian-born American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he is the current UFC Welterweight Champion. Usman is also The Ultimate Fighter 21 tournament winner. As of January 27, 2020, he is #7 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.
