In a thrilling UEFA Champions League third qualifying round first-leg clash, Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers dazzled in his competitive home debut for Rangers as they triumphed 2-1 against Swiss club Servette at the iconic Ibrox stadium on Wednesday.

The encounter witnessed the return of Leon Balogun, who rejoined Rangers during the summer transfer window.
However, Balogun found himself on the bench for the game, marking his second consecutive time sitting out for the team.
The game’s tempo ignited early on, with Rangers being granted a penalty just five minutes into the match.
James Tavernier took on the responsibility and expertly converted the spot-kick, giving Rangers an early advantage.
Dessers, the emerging star, took center stage in the 15th minute. His exquisite positioning paid off as he expertly connected with a tantalizing cross from Croatia’s Borna Barisic, heading the ball into the net at the back post.

Chris Bedia confidently stepped up to the spot for Servette, delivering a composed left-footed shot that eluded Rangers’ goalkeeper, Jack Butland, and secured a crucial goal for the Swiss side.
As the game concluded, Rangers emerged victorious with a 2-1 lead, setting the stage for an exciting return leg. The Rangers squad will now travel to Switzerland, where they are set to face Servette in a highly anticipated clash on Tuesday, 15th August.
