SL Benfica player, Ucheibe Christy couldn’t contain her joy after she bagged her first international goal for Super Falcons in wake of the much-needed victory against Botswana.
Nigeria needed the game to put themselves back in contention for group stage qualification after the opener loss to South Africa, a winning reaction was needed to give relief.
Ifeoma Onumonu scored the opener in the 21st minute as Ucheibe added a second in the 48th minute to hand over all much-needed three points to her team.
Reacting to the goal, she said, “I am so proud to have scored my first goal for the Super Falcons and helped the team secure this important victory.”
It was a hard-fought victory for the team and they will be hoping to build on this same momentum when they play Burundi on Sunday as Ucheibe will expect to keep her place and add to her goal tally.
