Nigeria U20 forward Success Makanjuola intends to make Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun proud at the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
The 18-year-old expressed his joy in being among the players chosen by Aigbogun for the competition, which will hold in Poland from 23rd May to 15th June.
“I am very happy that the coach picked me and I’m more grateful to him because I know it was not an easy decision for the coach to pick the final squad,” Makanjuola said.
“Like what the coach told all of us when he was announcing the list, he said ‘everybody has done very well in training but can’t take everyone to the World Cup’.
“I think the entire team owe him a lot when the tournament starts, and personally I can’t wait to put up a very good performance for the coach.”
Makanjuola also commended the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the level of preparation the team is having ahead of the World Cup.
“I think for us the players we don’t have any excuse not to make our country proud in Poland.
“Everything we need has been given to us by the NFF, from camping to motivation, so we just want to put smiles on the faces of all Nigerians and we are asking for their prayers,” Makanjuola concluded.
The Flying Eagles will begin their World Cup campaign against Qatar on the 24th of May before other group games against USA and Ukraine.
