The Fédération Internationale de Football Association, FIFA has released the pots for the draw of the 2023 U20 World Cup which will hold in Zurich on Friday where Nigeria’s Flying Eagles were among the 24 countries that have secured their place in the competition.
According to the pots released on Thursday afternoon, Argentina, Senegal, the USA, Italy, Uruguay, and France were placed on Pot 1.
England, Korean Republic, New Zealand, Brazil, Ecuador, and Colombia were placed in Pot 2
Flying Eagles were placed in Pot 3 alongside Uzbekistan, Japan, Honduras, Iraq, and Fiji.
Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Israel, Gambia, Slovakia, and Tunisia placed in Pot 4 ahead of the draw ceremony for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
FIFA’s general principle is to ensure that no group has more than one team from the same confederation drawn into it.
The 24 teams will be drawn into six groups of four, with 16 of them advancing to the knockout phase
The draw will be conducted by FIFA Director of Tournaments Jaime Yarza.
Argentina will host the competition from May 20 to June 11
