And, with East Africa poised to host a number of CAF events including the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, communication and media relations skills are at the centre of positioning the region.
CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba said: “The CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT) is about leaving legacy and the Club Media Officers workshop is a practical step towards building capacity in media. Communication is key in creating awareness and promoting African
Football. Over the last three years, we have invested time and resources in improving media operations and communication in Member Associations.”
The workshop was opened by President of Tanzania Football Association (TFF) and CECAFA, Wallace Karia.
The workshop explored the crucial role of media relations for Clubs. CAF instructors shared insight on the importance of creating a strong digital media and communications strategy. Presentations were also made on Media Services, Media Relations and Interclub football.
The workshop, beyond its theory component, allowed participants to exchange with experienced professionals, thus strengthening their skills in a constantly evolving field.
For CAF, this event demonstrates a desire to promote excellence and support the development of a new generation of communicators ready to tell the story of African football with passion and precision.
With initiatives such as the Media Officers Workshop, CAF reaffirms its commitment to equipping young Africans with skills and opportunities that will enable them to shine on a global scale.
