Nigeria’s under-15 national team, Future Eagles are scheduled to embark on a trip to Japan for an invitational competition in June.
Sports247.ng gathered that the youngest of all Nigeria’s male soccer teams will participate at the eight nation U16 International Dream Cup from 12th to 16th June in the Japanese city of Sendai.
Host Japan, Chile and France finished in that order at the first edition in 2015, while Mali, Japan and Hungary were the top teams in 2016.
Japan, The Netherlands and Guinea were top of the pile in 2017, while last year, Spain, Paraguay and Senegal finished in that order.
Future Eagles’ team administrator, Adewale Adeyinka said the trip was made possible by a confirmation by Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of their intention to honour an invitation from the organisers.
Adeyinka said the tournament, which started in 2015, has been graced by teams from the world’s leading football nations, like France, Spain and Holland, while Senegal, Mali and Guinea have also participated.
Last year, the Future Eagles won silver at the 3rd African Youth Games held in Algiers, Algeria, after which many of them graduated to the cadet national team, Golden Eaglets.
Most of them were in the Eaglets’ side that won the WAFU Tournament in Niger Republic in September last year, to qualify for this year’s Africa U17 Cup of Nations taking place in Tanzania.
