With three points to fight for and a chance of making it to the semi finals in her final group match at the ongoing CAF U-20 African Cup of Nations in Niger, head coach of Burundi U-20 side Joslin Bipfubusa has warned South Africa that their major aim is to win the game at all cost.
Despite being bottom of the group A log, Burundi received a lifeline to still be in the competition when Nigeria played out a goalless draw against South Africa and they coming from two goals behind to pull a dramatic draw against tournaments host Niger on Tuesday at the Stade General Seyni Kountche.
Looking forward to the game Bipfubusa said despite their loss to Nigeria and their draw to host Niger, their ambition remains qualifying for the World Cup which they will achieve if they beat South Africa. “We lost the first match against Nigeria and drew against Niger and we have the ambition of qualifying for the World Cup. All the teams here are very strong and they’re here on merit so we’re focus on our team’s preparation.”
Reacting to the Burundi’s ambition of sending them out of the tournament South African coach Thabo Senong stated that although the group is tough, their ambition coming into the tournament is that of not wanting to lose which he is sure will not start with Burundi.
He said; “We came here with a very clear plan when we prepared for this tournament that we’re Group A very tough with Niger, Burundi and Nigeria and we always knew that for us to collect points we need to make sure that we don’t lose”
Both teams will square up against each other at the Stade de Mirada in Niger.
