Nigeria’s handball under-18 national team coach, Emeka Nnamani has confessed that the squad needs taller players for them to be able to do better on the international scene.
Nnamani reckoned that the preponderance of short players in the team was their major undoing in the competitions they contested this year.
He stated further in a chat with sports247.ng that height issues were the biggest problems he has faced with the team, not talents, technical or tactical.
Nnamani went on to laud the recent National Handball Premier League in Lagos, which he said accorded many of his players to line out for their respective clubs and gain useful experience in the competition.
He said: “Our biggest problem this year was height issue, as many of the players are not all that tall.
“It becomes a problem when they need to intercept the ball during key matches and also when they want to throw at goal.
“However, I am happy with what I saw from many of the players during the league, as they were able to develop themselves better technically and in order departments of the game.”
