The Head Coach of Golden Eaglets, Nduka Ugbade has vowed that Nigeria will defeat the Baby Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire in the semi final fixture of the ongoing WAFU B U-17 tournament on Tuesday.
Nigeria will be hoping to book their place in the final of the regional AFCON qualification tournament, which will automatically guarantee them a ticket to the 2023 U-17 AFCON billed for Algeria when the two nations clash in the first semi-final fixture today at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana.
While speaking ahead of the match, Ugbade said the game against the Baby Elephants is the most important match for the team.
“By the special grace of God we will subdue Ivory Coast and qualify,” Ugbade said on Brila FM.”Because like I said to them the trophy is not important you must win the last match to win the trophy and this is not the last match this is the most important match, win this one and you are assured to get to the finals in Algeria,” he said.
Host Ghana will face their Burkina Faso counterparts who are unbeaten in the tournament so far in the second semi-final match.
The two finalists in the tournament will automatically qualify for the 2023 U-17 AFCON, which will produce CAF representatives for 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.
