Chairman of the Trade Union Congress TUC,Mr Laye Julius has commended players and officials of Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens for the historic victory recorded by the two state own teams.
Mr. Julius who gave the commendation shortly after the historic event in Benin City, Edo, said Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens exploit in the this years Aiteo Cup has proven that the state is the home of sports.
The former Bayelsa State Football Association Vice Chairman, noted that Team Bayelsa’s brilliant display at the 20th National Sports Festival, Bayelsa State Handball team qualifying to the Prudent Energy League, and Blessing Oburududu, winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics was indicative of how significant 2021 has been for Bayelsa sports.
While lauding the players for their show of dexterity and discipline throughout the entire 90 minutes, the Union leader stressed that both teams had written their names in gold, describing them as heroes and heroines.
The seasoned sport administrator equally appreciated Governor Douye Diri and his Deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo for their continuous support as well the team supporters.
