Udinese of Italy defender, William Troost-Ekong left the Serie A club’s technical director, Danielle Pradé worried at the weekend, after the Super Eagles’ star complained of pain in his abductor’s muscle.
Sports247.ng reports that, although Troost-Ekong lasted the duration of his side’s 2-0 win against Genoa, much to the dismay of Pradé, who fears it is another instance of season-ending troubles the Udine-based club has been faced with in recent time.
Pradé acknowledged as much in his post-match comments, as he viewed Troost-Ekong’s injury alongside the absences of two other key players on disciplinary grounds, even as the club gets ready to battle AC Milan in a crucial game on Tuesday, after which they have three other tough times.
So far this season, Troost-Ekong has started all Udinese’s Serie A games and has played a key role in keeping them 15th on the log, but he is in doubt for their upcoming matches against Milan, Empoli, SS Lazio and AS Roma; ahead of which Pradé admits his worries.
He noted that the 25-year-old apparently copped a knock when he confronted Christian Kouamé in the 50th minute of Sunday’s game, in which Stefano Chuka Okaka and Mandragora scored at Dacia Arena.
Pradé disclosed: “Ekong at the end of the game complained a little problem to the abductor.
“We are always in trouble, in the run-up, but I expect a lot from this end of the championship.
“(We have) a team that is hungry, heart in the field and the desire to overcome the obstacle.”
