Triathlon Union Takes Schools’ Campaign Nationwide

The president of Nigeria Triathlon Union (NTU), Prince Wale Oladunjoye has embarked on a nationwide capoaign to enlighten directors of sports on the need to take the game to schools in their areas of jurisdiction.

 

 

In the course of his tour, Oladunjoye urged states to encourage schools to set up associations, groups and clubs to enable them to discover and develop athletes so that they can participate in national competitions.

Sports247.ng gathered that Oladunjoye visited some states and schools outside Lagos to remind them of the need to set up functional triathlon associations.

The NTU had earlier written letters to them and the visit was a follow-up to see what the states were doing to develop the sports.

Oladunjoye also visited Abia State director of sports in Umuahia, where he harped on the need to establish an association in the state, which will enable teeming youngsters to take advantage of the facilities in the state and compete with their peers.

The NTU boss, in company of medical vice-president, Dr Harry Ladapo, presented a souvenir to the principal of Lagelu College Ibadan, Tope Onifade, who is also excited about working with the NTU to bringing triathlon to the doorsteps of all students.

Oladunjoye stated that the NTU would continue to make efforts that would help in the propagation of the sport in the country.

In Owerri, Oladunjoye met with Imo State director of sports, Chizota Aretola, who he held a discussion with and handed the former volleyball player a letter of reminder on the need to partner with the NTU.

Alvan Ikoku College of Education director of sports, , Nnochiri Nwaiwu said he was convinced on the viability of the sport and gave assurance that he would speak to the provost on the need to set up a club in the school to also cater for the secondary and primary schools in the college.
