Transfer Update: Monaco Sign Nigerian-Born Forward Ilenikhena

AS Monaco has signed 17-year-old Nigerian-born forward George Ilenikhena from Belgian Pro League side Royal Antwerp. Ilenikhena, who joined Antwerp from Amiens SC last summer, is known for his remarkable performances and potential.

Ilenikhena was born in Lagos, Nigeria, but moved to France at a young age, growing up in Antony, Hauts-de-Seine. He progressed through the youth ranks of Antony Football Evolution and then Amiens before his stint with Royal Antwerp. His rapid development and consistent performances have now earned him a move to one of Ligue 1’s top clubs

During his time with Antwerp, Ilenikhena made significant strides, becoming the youngest Nigerian-born player to score in the UEFA Champions League at just 17 years and 119 days.

This record-breaking goal came in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Barcelona, where he scored the decisive goal, surpassing the previous record held by Obafemi Martins.

Ilenikhena’s move to Monaco marks a significant step in his career as he seeks to further develop his skills and make an impact in Ligue 1.

His performance at Antwerp, where he scored eight goals in 28 games, showcases his potential and ambition to succeed at the highest levels of European football.
