Super Eagles of Nigeria and Cyprus base goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has tried to defend himself that his looks is as a result of too many trainings.
The 21 year old Uzoho, has really come under fire recently from football fans, home and abroad who believed that he lied about his real age.
The Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus goal tender says that those criticising him don’t know him well while he was growing up. And when he was growing up, he had a very small stature.
“I was smallish back then in 2013 when I participated at the World Cup with the U-17 national team,” Uzoho told Super Eagles media in an Instagram chat.
Though he explained that he was quite small in his young age, as soon as he decided to start visiting the gym, his stature changed. “I later went to Aspire academy where I learnt a lot. My looks and body build changed when I started using the gym and was working out seriously.
He added that their opinion does not really border him because they have little knowledge of him. “If a lot of people see my picture back then they won’t even talk about my age, but I don’t really bothers because they don’t know me.”
Francis Uzoho stood in goal for the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where the three-time African champions were eliminated at the group stage.
He has 14 caps for the Nigerian national team and he was also part of Gernot Rohr’s squad who finished third at the 2019.
