Turkish club Trabzonspor is intensifying efforts to secure Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu before the Turkish transfer window closes, offering €8 million plus a player in a bid to finalize the deal with Southampton.
Despite the challenges in negotiations, Trabzonspor remains determined to sign Onuachu, who scored 17 goals in 25 matches last season.
The Black Sea club has already been active in the transfer market, securing agreements with Braga for striker Simon Banza and defender Serdar Saatçı.
Both players are expected to join the squad soon, but Trabzonspor’s management is focused on adding Onuachu to their roster.
Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan confirmed the club’s commitment to bringing Onuachu to Turkey, stating, “We made the biggest offer to his club regarding Paul Onuachu. We offered €6 million plus bonuses up to €8 million, but his club insists on €15 million. We are still interested and preparing to add another foreigner.”
With Southampton deeming Onuachu surplus to requirements, Trabzonspor is looking to capitalize on the situation. The 30-year-old striker, who has not featured in any of Southampton’s matchday squads this season, is reportedly eager to join Trabzonspor.
As the transfer window in Europe’s major leagues has closed, Trabzonspor sees an opportunity to finalize the deal, with plans to secure Onuachu’s signature before the window shuts in Turkey.
The club’s management is pushing to complete the transfer and bolster their squad with the prolific forward.
