Former Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and one time Flying Eagles coach, Tunde Disu is confident that Nigeria can go all the way up in the TotalEnergies U-20 AFCON and top the group of death as many virally tagged it.
Nigeria are drawn in the same group as host Egypt, Mozambique and Senegal in Group A.
In an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng, Disu posited, “I am very sure that we will be able to top the group regardless whether it’s Senegal, Egypt and Mozambique. We have good records there and I haven’t seen a strong team of Egypt in the youth level but I give it to Senegal.”
“Although, we are not there but at youth level, we know it’s very important to have a very strong team because they will graduate to the senior national team of course it’s not palatable to say that we are not in the World Cup but again for the youth teams, we are sure to produce a good team.”
“The defensive line has been very strong, good man marking, tight marking and even the front, the players up there can score goals, they can shoot. We don’t have overlapping fullbacks when we are attacking, those are the criteria.”
“We need players who are very smart, most of the teams in Africa are very tough, strong so you need to have them, who have good muscles and are well build up, the sky will be the limit.”
“The technical crew will know the caliber of players they have to pick, they know the standards and must know thier opponent very well, I am very sure we will qualify in that group,” he concluded.
