Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes, Bala Abubakar says he is very happy that his side has qualified for the semi finals of the ongoing Ogunjobi Gold Cup.
The Ikon Allah Boys defeated Mountain of Fire, Miracles and Ministry Football Club (MFM FC) 4-0 at the Kwara State Sports Complex, Ilorin.
Speaking after the game, he said they have a target for the tournament and he is happy it is gradually becoming achievable.
“I am very happy seeing that our target seems achievable for the Gold Cup, we have made the boys realise that we are preparing for the Nigeria National League (NNL) competition and the game in the National league is different from the style of play in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) so they must be active whenever they play either the Premier League team, National League team or a Nationwide League One team and we all saw the best part of them today.
“It’s about the mentality, the players seeing their qualities, they relaxed against Yobo FC and that was why they lost that match, we told them to change their mentality because they should forget they are Premier League player and start preparing for the Nigeria National League (NNL) and the standard of play there is very high. We won’t have any other venue than this Ogunjobi Gold Cup because here we have quality teams, quality National League team and Premier League team.
“We will work out different way of approaching the semi final match, we will come out stronger in the semi final match against Remo Stars.”
“Our target is to come and take the trophy, we have participated in this competition five times, we have been in the final two times and this time around we want to win the trophy.”
