Niger State Ministry of Sports Development has issued a five match ultimatum to the management and technical crew of the state darling team, Niger Tornadoes Fc, to turn the fortunes of the team starting from Wednesday’s rescheduled match day one of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), against Rangers International of Enugu.
Niger Tornadoes Fc had played four matches so far in the current 2019 abridged league, losing one away to Wikki Tourist of Bauchi and drew three at home to Rivers United, Remo Stars and Bendel Insurance, a result which many soccer lovers in the state were not happy with, including the officials of the state ministry of sports.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Sports Development, Dr. Mohammed Gana, the ministry expressed worry and concern about the abysmal performance of the state darling team in the NPFL so far.
The statement reads: “The management of the ministry has over the weeks been following the performance of Niger Tornadoes Football club in the current premier league matches.
The Ministry has viewed with dismay the dismal performance of the club from week one of the league to the extent that all the four matches played were drawn and lost which is detrimental to the fortunes of the club and to Nigerlites in general.
In this regard the management is issuing a stern matching order to the management of the club and the technical crew, henceforth from this week’s match up to the next five matches, we want to see the club up the league table as any loss may result to outright need for a change.
The statement which added that the ministry was leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the club returned to winning ways, also appealed to the supporters and fans of the club to remained resolute and pray for the success of the club in this trying times.
Tornadoes is currently occupying the 10th position in the group A league table with three points after four matches. The team will be guest to Rangers International of Enugu on Wednesday in a rescheduled match day one fixture.
