Following the success of a similar event at the University of Ibadan Sports Complex last year—where several players were scouted, nurtured, and transported to Europe—this year’s edition will take place at the Dipo Dina International Stadium from Tuesday, March 4th, to Saturday, March 8th, 2025.
Scouts from Italy and other European countries have already arrived in Ogun State to observe the Best Talent Scouting Programme, where 12 teams will compete for a chance to impress international recruiters.
The participating teams include Best Talent FC, Ikosi FC, Adamimogo FC, Dominion Hotspur, Victory FC, Utility Sports FC, Obas FC, Hephzibah SC, K ZeeZ FC, Seamorow FC, D Shack FA, and Utmost FC.
The tournament’s opening fixtures will see Best Talent FC face Ikosi FC, followed by Adamimogo FC vs. Dominion Hotspur. Other matches include Victory FC vs. Utility Sports FC, Obas FC vs. Hephzibah SC, K Zeez FC vs. Seamorow FC, and D Shack FA vs. Utmost FC.
According to Sikiru Ibrahim, the coordinator of the scouting program, the invited clubs are primarily youth teams and third-division clubs in Nigeria with a proven record of competitive football.
Best Talent Football Club’s General Manager emphasized the program’s significance, stating, “We have organized similar scouting events before, and the success has encouraged us to do more. This initiative provides a realistic pathway for talented Nigerian players to transition into European football.”
With top European youth club officials, agents, and club representatives in attendance, the tournament offers a golden opportunity for Nigerian footballers to take their careers to the next level.
