Sporting Lagos who are currently participating in Nigeria’s topflight league NPFL in the last few years has endeared the hearts of many to football following the relegation of MFM and with their recent success notably in the Naija Super 8, conquering the league is somewhat of a herculean task and with Inter Lagos coming on board, it’s safe to say Lagos will have two giant football set-up as ‘healthy rival’.

Sports247.ng caught up with Tomi who is one of the directors at Inter Lagos FC to discuss their set-up, readiness for the NNL, and having a model similar to Sporting Lagos but differently run.

‘For us at Inter Lagos, we are very passionate about football, and part of the reason why we decided to start the football club was that we wanted to foster the spirit of sports in Lagos and also help young people who have an interest in football groom their talent and also give them the opportunity to have a global platform for them to play,” Tomi explained.

“Participating in the NNL is a good start for us, our very first and we are preparing as well as hoping for the best”.

“For the structure, because we are a new club, we are still pretty small, so we are about 6-7 for the core management team, we are still growing”.

“We have a fan base and we are leveraging on our personal networks to build and of course, we are building anticipation to when the league eventually starts but we are very confident that we have our fans”, she added.

“It’s a similar model to Sporting Lagos but the cat is still in the bag, so we will have to wait till it’s out we are looking to doing things differently, I mean bringing the spirit of football to life in Lagos”.

On players’ recruitment: “The coaching staff have done incredibly well, we have a chief scout that’s so very hard-working, we have a camp where we house the recruited players and that’s how we are bringing the boys in one spirit with right tutoring from the coaching crew,” she concluded.
