Tojemarine Academy is the champion of the National Division One Handball League as the second-tier Handball League ended in Benin City, Edo State on Friday.
The Lagos-based handball academy cum club had to hold their own to defeat a resilient Police Machine side 20-19 to be crowned the winner of the National Division One League.
Both sides had earlier gained promotion to the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League after a dramatic semi-final tie against their opponent.
Tojemarine defeated Correctional Boys 26-24 while Police Machine stopped the onslaught of Owena Kings of Akure with a 34-32 victory in the semi-final.
It was no contest in the third-place match decided before the final Correctional Boys comfortably defeated Owena Kings 25-12 to take the bronze medals.
In the women category, Bayelsa Queens and Confluence Queens qualified for the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League after coming first and second respectively in the National Division One League standings.
