Nigerian track and field sensation Tobi Amusan showcased her dominance once again by claiming victory in the women’s 100m hurdles at the African Games held in Ghana.
Despite encountering a false-start scare during the initial race attempt, Tobi Amusan maintained her composure to secure the win with an impressive time of 12.89 seconds.
The false-start incident raised concerns of a potential disqualification for Amusan. However, officials opted to issue her a yellow card instead, allowing her to proceed with the race.
With this triumph, Amusan cemented her status as a three-time consecutive African Games champion in the 100m hurdles event. Her stellar performance saw her outpace Sidonie Fiadanantsoa of Madagascar, who finished in second place with a time of 13.19 seconds.
Although Amusan clinched the gold, her compatriot Faith Osamuyi narrowly missed securing a podium finish, settling for fourth place with a time of 13.77 seconds.
Amusan’s victory adds to her impressive track record, as she currently holds the world record in the 100m hurdles with a remarkable time of 12.12 seconds.
