Players of Kwara United Football Club have been charged to show more commitment, in the wake of the new status of the club in the league.
Kwara United FC on Wednesday acquired the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) slot of Delta Force, and are expected to continue from Week Six, in a match against Nasarawa United in Lafia.
Addressing the players after their evening training on Thursday, inside the Main-Bowl of the Star Stadium Complex, Club Chairman, Clement Kumbi Titiloye said that more commitment must be shown, and sacrifices made, to tackle the challenges ahead.
‘I watched your match against Gombe United FC, and I discovered that some of you need to play more with your hearts’, he said.
‘With the development yesterday, we are now in the Premier League, and with that, we need to be more focused, especially with what is on ground. Your job is primarily to play football, and you need to be thoroughly professional about it’, he added.
He said that thought the plan from initial was to play in the NNL, he expressed confidence in all the players signed that they can do the job perfectly well in the NPFL.
‘We are not under pressure, and we cannot put ourselves under it. I am assuring you of government’s continuous support, and Management’s commitment, towards achieving set goals.
Titiloye thanked the state government, under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq the understanding and support.
Responding on behalf of the players, the Captain, Akeem Onigbari, who said that the players were surprised about the change in status, thanked the government and management for their efforts.
He assured that the players will justify the commitment of both government and management of the club.
