The event, powered by the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, will take place on Saturday at 5 PM at the Center Point Mall and will feature top athletes from Nigeria, Benin, and Togo. The Nigerian team, including Afeniforo, will arrive in Ghana on Friday, March 15, ahead of the tournament.

For Afeniforo, this competition marks a significant milestone in her career. Having stunned the Nigerian Armwrestling scene with her two gold medals at the National Open Armwrestling Championship in Ibadan, she now prepares to take on international challengers for the first time.

“I can’t believe I’m representing Nigeria on an international stage,” she told Sports247. “Just a short while ago, I had never even competed in Armwrestling, and now I have the opportunity to prove myself beyond Nigeria. I’m both excited and nervous, but most of all, I’m ready.”

The Independence Armwrestling Challenge will be a major showdown, with top West African arm wrestlers battling for dominance. The event will attract high-profile guests, including Ghana’s Sports & Recreational Minister, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, MP for Ayawaso Wuogon, Hon. John Dumelo, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, and MP for Berekum West, Hon. Dickson Kyere Duah.

With strong backing from sponsors and partners like Center Point Mall, BrandSurge, BlynxliveGh, and GHOneTV, the tournament promises to be an electrifying showcase of strength, technique, and determination.

The Nigeria Armwrestling Federation President, Engineer Samuel Jackson, expressed confidence in the team, stating:

“We have assembled a strong squad for this invitational, and I believe our athletes will make the country proud. Afeniforo is one of the brightest prospects in Nigerian Armwrestling, and this is her moment to shine on the international stage.”

Afeniforo will compete in the 65kg women’s category, facing off against some of the best in West Africa. She remains focused on the challenge ahead, determined to carry Nigeria’s flag high.

“This is just the beginning for me. I want to give my best and bring home another gold for Nigeria. I know it won’t be easy, but I’m ready for the fight!” she declared.

With Team Nigeria departing for Ghana on Friday, March 14, and set to return on Monday, March 18, all eyes will be on the young sensation as she embarks on this historic journey. Will she rise to the occasion and bring glory to Nigeria once again? Time Up to Show Up!
