The 7th Edition of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s football competition kicked off in style at the Umar Faruq Township Stadium, Daura, where hundreds of enthusiastic football fans gathered despite the rain to witness the thrilling opening match between Musa Haro Football Academy and FC Barcelona Daura.
The match began with high energy, and just ten minutes into the game, Musa Haro Football Academy’s Tutuwa sent the crowd into a frenzy by scoring the first goal. The Academy’s dominance continued as Tutuwa doubled their lead just before the halftime whistle, leaving FC Barcelona Daura trailing by two goals.
However, FC Barcelona Daura was not ready to give up. They came back from the break with renewed vigor, and within 15 minutes, Muhammad Mustapha, their star player, scored twice to level the score, much to the delight of the drenched but elated spectators.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw, leaving fans eager for more as the competition continues. Shortly after the game, Alh Sani Abu Dauda Daura, the competition’s organizer, praised both teams for their sportsmanship and determination. He also announced the prizes for the tournament, pledging one million naira to the winner, 500,000 naira to the runner-up, and 300,000 naira to the team that finishes third.
