Three New Invitees Crash In As D’Tigers Intensify Training In Ahead Of Libya Showdown

Ahead of the 2025 AfroBasket qualifier against Libya, the Nigeria Basketball,D’Tigers’ camp is bubbling with three new Invites, Sports247 reports.

The team had their first training Under the watchful eyes of coach coach Abdulrahman Mohammed at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja Basketball court with the addition of Favour Aboje of Nile University BBC, Israel Philip from Nigeria Customs and Rivers’ Hoopers Johnson Anaye.

The trio were called up to fill the void left by the absence of River’s duo of Michael Okiki and Patrick Abah as well as Azeez Sulaimon of Hoops N’ Read.

We gathered that the players could not make it to the Abuja camp of D’Tigers due various reasons ranging from academical to personal.

The home based players will be in Abuja till the 16th of this month before flying to Tripoli the Libyan capital where they will be joined by the 13 foreign players invited for the decide your fate Qualifiers.

A former D’Tigers shooting guard, Stanley Gumut, said, the inclusion of Favour Aboje, is a plus to the team.

Gumut, a 2011 Afrobasket bronze medallist with over 10 years experience with D’Tigers has this to say about Aboje. “He deserved it, he is one of the many talents on the domestic league.”

The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), is elated with the turnout and output of players as the camp opened on Tuesday.

The Federation says the team is focused and determined to achieve success in Tripoli. “We appreciate the continued support of fans and stakeholders”, said NBBF.
