Three Flying Eagles players have been named in the just concluded WAFU B U-20 Championship’s team of the tournament.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles won the competition after thrashing the young Squirrels of Benin Republic 3-1 in the final at the Stade General Seyni Kountche, Niamey on Sunday and also book their place in the U-20 AFCON in Egypt next year.
Water FC’s Nathaniel Nwosu was named goal keeper of the tournament after an impressive show throughout the tournament that included an exceptional performance in the semi-final victory against Cote D’Ivoire where he made some fantastic saves in the match to book a final spot for the country.
FC One Rocket star, Daniel Daga who was also a versatile member of the winning team during the competition was named the team.
Daga picked up two man of the match awards in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso and in the semi-final victory against Cote d’ivoire.
Muhammad will be third Flying Eagle in the team. The Maikunkele FC man got his reward after netting twice in the competition including the extra time goal that sent Nigeria into the final.
Semi-finalist Cote d’l voire also had three players on the list, two players each from Burkina Faso and Benin Republic while the host country produced the last player to complete a team of 11.
The Flying Eagles alongside Benin Republic U-20 team will represent West Africa Zone B at the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt next year.
