This match marked Real Sapphire’s first appearance in the tournament, as they had received a walkover in their initial game due to logistical challenges. Udeh explained, “Yesterday we came a bit late, and when we arrived, they gave us a walkover.
There was nothing we could do. We came today to see if we could make up for the lost points, but we lost today.” he told Sports247.
Despite the defeat, Udeh commended his team’s performance, stating, “For me, we played very well, but we could not convert the chances. We had possession of the ball, but our opponents capitalized on their opportunities. What I would say is hard luck for us today. We are the better side, but it was hard luck for us.”
Regarding his assessment of their opponents, he acknowledged, “They are a good side, but we can stand and beat them. But for today, they are the better side because they defeated us. There is nothing we can do about that.”
Real Sapphire still has one more game to play in the tournament, and Udeh emphasized their commitment to improving their goal-scoring abilities. He expressed, “For me, we will work more on our goal-scoring because we know how to play, but our scoring aspect is not that perfect. So, we have to work more on our goal-scoring and see how the game goes tomorrow.”
Looking ahead to his personal goals and aspirations, Udeh revealed his ambition to play for a European team. He recognized that he has work to do to achieve this dream but expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities.
He stated, “We believe that in the league, we will make everyone proud and topping the table is a possibility.”
Udeh has been an integral part of Real Sapphire for two years and takes pride in his role as captain. He considers it both fun and a privilege to lead the team. While acknowledging the challenges, he is committed to managing his role to the best of his ability and promised an excellent performance in their next match.
He draws inspiration from Antonio Rudiger, the central defender for Real Madrid, and Thiago, learning valuable skills from their playing styles. Udeh particularly admires Rudiger for his youthfulness and speed.
