The people’s elephant, Enyimba international begin the group phase of the CAF confederations cup with a home win on Wednesday. The Abia boys opened their campaign in the group phase of the competition with a 2-1 win over Libyan club Ahly Benghazi.
Enyimba opened scoring against Ahly as they shot in front just 10 minutes into the encounter played in Aba at the Enyimba International stadium by skipper, Augustine Oladapo, who fired in another trademark long-range effort.
However, later in the match, Enyimba allowed Ahly Benghazi to bounce back into the game with an equaliser from Abdallah Imhamed before Victor Mbaoma had the final say with the winning goal of the encounter which was beautifully hit into the back of the net.
The technical adviser of Enyimba, Fatai Osho, gave his opinion on the match and on the teams involved with sports247 “I am happy with the win but there is room to get better even if you win by ten goals. we played with a formidable team, a strong team with character and they came all out believing in themselves that they can get something out of this game but our resilience helped us to some extent…we can start looking at next Wednesday in South Africa to consolidate on this win.”
Enyimba with this home win will hope they can keep the momentum as they are rated among the best teams on the continent. They play Orlando Pirates on Wednesday the 27th of March away in South Africa.
