Nigerian Forward, Taiwo Awoniyi has admitted that he has no chance of playing for Liverpool after he was loaned out to German side, Union Berlin in September for the entire 2020/2021 season.
The former Golden Eaglet striker joined the reds in 2015 but he hasn’t played a single game for the current English Premier League Champions since his move.
After his successful exploits for Nigeria at the 2013 FIFA World Cup in UAE, as well as the U20 African Youth Championship in Senegal, he joined Liverpool, where he had been loaned out to numerous club sides (in Netherland, Belgium, and Germany).
In a Chat with Sports 247, he admitted his desire to play for the Reds this season (2020/2021) but was left shell shocked when he was sent out on loan yet again to join the German side, Union Berlin.
“It is my dream to play for Liverpool. But me playing for Liverpool has to do with getting my work permit”.
“Without it, there is no chance for me discussing playing for Liverpool for now”.
“This season was maybe a bit tough to make the decision honestly, I was hoping to leave permanently. Liverpool has been great, they have been so supportive and we always talk with the director, and every time, they tell me to be patient”.
“But the reason I discussed something permanent this season was just that most loans I have been to, have not really been the way I want it”.
“And I felt it happens that way because the loaned players get less of an advantage than the players of their own, that was what made me think, Okay, maybe its time to find a home with my family,” he said.
Awoniyi scored his first goal for his loaned Club, Union Berlin in a fortnight ago, as he helped his side beat Cologne 2-1 in the German Bundesliga.
