President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick has urged Nigerians to keep the faith and believe in head coach Gernot Rohr despite the two disappointing draws against Sierra Leone in the AFCON qualifiers admitting to the fact that they (Nigerians) are not happy with both results.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a thrilling 4-4 draw by Sierra Leone in Benin before being held again to a disappointing goalless draw in Freetown.

Despite both disappointing draws against the Leone stars, Nigeria still remained top of the group and Pinnick admitted to the sadness of Nigerians on the Poor Performance of the team in both AFCON qualifying matches.

He said while speaking to BBC Sport Africa, “Nobody is happy about what happened against Sierra Leone in both matches”
The NFF President went further while still speaking with Sports 247 to urge Nigerians to keep the faith and believe with the coach Gernot Rohr saying that there was no basis to sack him now with the team still top of their AFCON qualifiers group after four matches played so far.

“Both matches are not enough to sack the coach because his team is still top of the Nations Cup group after four matches.
His statistics speak volumes for him, so on what indexes do we want to sack him considering the contract recently signed by both parties.

No matter how emotional and disappointed the fans are, there’s no basis to sack him now and he deserves to keep his job.
When you look at his performance, where he has won 29 matches, drew 14, and lost 10, you can say that is enough to back him.
Yes, the performance in the last two games has not gone down well with some people, but we need to be professional, honest, and respectful in how we analyse things”, Pinnick concluded.

A win for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their next AFCON qualifiers against Benin republic will see them qualify for AFCON in 2021 which would be held in Cameroon.
