The draws for the African qualifying rounds of the 2022 FIFA World Cup took place a few days ago in Cairo, Egypt. Nigeria are drawn in the group that has Liberia, Central African Republic and Cape Verde.
There has been a flood of varied reactions from Nigerians and football pundits since then.
Not one reaction has described the group as the ‘Group of Death’ for obvious reasons. None of the three teams comes even remotely close to the level of the Super Eagles in history, capacity, experience and achievements. Yet, Gernot Rohr plays safè and modest, and describes them as ‘tricky opponents’.
What do Parliamentarians think about the group, the opponents, Nigeria’s chances beyond the group matches (as they will still play one of the other 9 group leaders to qualify for Qatar 2022) ? What do they think of the other groups. What are their predictions?
That is the topic tonight on the best informative, entertaining, educative and exciting sports conversation on television, ‘The Sports Parliament’ on NTA, from 10:30 pm, with parliamentarians in session.
Viewers and pundits should keep their pens and paper handy to take down notes!
