Former Nigerian player, Etim Esin has charged the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to change its mentality of scouting for players and pick players on merit.
Esin stated this in a chat with Sports247, where he urged the NFF to select players based on merit, which was the basic factor in selecting players for the National team during his playing days.
“The Scouting of players in our national team has to be changed,’ Esin stated.
“A lot needs to be changed, put an ex-international who has done it before in this country to do these things on merit. Okocha, Oliseh, Kanu, and so on were all picked on merits at the age group so, we also need to see how things can be done on merit,” he said.
Etim Esin, born on the 5th of October, 1966 is a former Nigerian international and also one of the most gifted players in Nigeria’s football history.
