The qualifiers for the 2023 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast begin with a game against Sierra Leone on Thursday 9th June, 2022.
After being knocked out of the 33rd edition, the TotalEnergies AFCON 2021 in the round of 16 knockout stages by Tunisia under interim coach Austin Eguavon, the Super Eagles will look to push their way back for a chance at regaining the title they last won in 2013 under the tutelage of late Stephen Keshi.
With a new coaching crew, headed by Portuguese Jose Peseiro, though starting with two losses in friendlies against Mexico and then Ecuador, the Super Eagles have the full complement of stars as the journey begins to AFCON 2023 since Nigeria wouldn’t be at the World Cup in Dubai after losing out the spot to Ghana.
Nigeria in Group A, will take on Sierra Leone, then São Tomé and Príncipe on Monday, 13th June before facing Guinea-Bissau in the first round of Group A.
