Prince Vincent Okumagba, Interim Chairman of the Unify Nigeria Supporters Club, has praised the initiators of the forthcoming Niger-Delta Games (NDG), describing them as “brilliant”.
“The initiators of the Niger-Delta Games must be people of brilliant minds who are capable of thinking out of the box to develop sports,” Prince Okumagba said.

He emphasized the benefits of the local mini-Olympic games, stating, “There are a lot of sports persons and businesses that will benefit from the local Olympic games that will be held in Akwa-Ibom state.”
Prince Okumagba advised states participating in the Niger-Delta games to utilize this opportunity to prepare their indigenous athletes for the National Sports Festival. “This is an opportunity for all sports commissioners or chairmen to recruit their best indigenous athletes… This is not to buy athletes from other states to win medals but an opportunity to develop and feature your indigenous athletes that will make your state proud both locally and internationally in the near future.”
He commended the National Sports Commission’s leadership, specifically Alhaji Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olapade, for their tireless efforts in promoting sports development in Nigeria.
Prince Okumagba, Vice Chairman of the African Football Supporters Association and Interim Chairman of the Unify Nigeria Supporters Club, led a large contingent of supporters to Uyo, where they cheered on the Super Eagles as they battled to a 1-1 draw.
Prince Okumagba’s presence was a testament to his unwavering support for Nigerian football, and his leadership in mobilizing fans to rally behind the national team.

The inaugural Niger Delta Games, scheduled to take place from April 1 to 8, promises to be a thrilling showcase of athletic talent. The event will feature 3,000 athletes, aged 16-25, from Niger Delta heritage, competing in 17 sports to vie for top honors.
This groundbreaking event aims to discover and nurture athletes who will go on to become global sports stars. Participation is exclusive to athletes from the nine Niger Delta states: Akwa Ibom, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa, Ondo, Abia, and Imo.
The Niger Delta Games are poised to become a premier platform for identifying and developing young athletic talent, paving the way for future success on the global sports stage.
